Two Chefs Brewing Funky Falcon

This falcon flies at 0.2% altitude — perfect landing every time. Amsterdam's most crushable non-alcoholic pale ale delivers flowing flavours of lemongrass, citrus, and floral funk. Two ex-chefs turned this bird into their golden goose, and one sip explains why.

Aroma & Taste

Citrus · Lemongrass · Floral

The Two Chefs Funky Falcon opens with bright lemongrass and citrus aromas that hit you like falling in love — melony, lemony, and impossibly fresh.

On the palate, tropical fruit notes blend seamlessly with a hint of pine and grapefruit, creating a light, refreshing character balanced by smooth bitterness.

The finish is crisp and suave, leaving behind clean floral notes and a lingering citrus zest that begs for another sip — truly crushable.

Story & Design

“Live a Little” · Amsterdam

Sanne and Martijn started brewing in 2012 to fill their fridges with beer they couldn't find elsewhere, quit their chef jobs in 2013, and brewed the first Funky Falcon in 2015 — it's been their golden goose ever since.

Through crowdfunding (€300K in 2016, €1M in 2023), Two Chefs Brewing built their Amsterdam brewery and grew to almost 50 employees, staying fiercely independent.

Their philosophy? "Live a little" — not as dull as carpe diem, not as extreme as YOLO, just enough to make life tastier.

Ingredients & Value

Pale Ale · 0.2% · 26 kcal

This pale ale uses a clean five-ingredient approach — water, barley malt, oats for smoothness, hops, and yeast — with funky hop varieties (Centennial and Chinook) that deliver those distinctive lemongrass and citrus notes.

At 26 kcal and 3.1g sugar per 100ml, it's light and sessionable. The €2.91 per can price point offers excellent value for Amsterdam's most popular craft non-alcoholic beer.

Verdict & Opinion

Hero

Two chefs walk into a brewery. This isn't a joke — it's why Amsterdam's most popular non-alcoholic beer tastes this good. When Sanne and Martijn quit their chef jobs to brew full-time, they brought finely tuned taste buds and a refusal to accept mediocre beer. The result? Funky Falcon, a pale ale so popular it became their golden goose.

Most 0.2% beers apologize for existing. They overcompensate with sugar or bury the malt under fruit juice. Funky Falcon does the opposite — it leans into being a proper pale ale. The lemongrass gives it a distinctive funk that justifies the name, and the finish is clean enough that you immediately want another. "Crushable" isn't marketing speak; it's a warning.

At €2.91, you're paying for a brewery that crowdfunded €1.3 million because people believed in what they were making. This falcon flies at 0.2% altitude and nails the landing every time. Hero status confirmed.
