NA Sour IPA by Avant Garde

POW. BANG. BOOM. SOUR. This French Sour IPA hits like a superhero fist through a brick wall — tart, hoppy, and zero hesitation. Drinkable comic-book art from the Loire Valley. Arch-nemesis thirst: Defeated.

Aroma & Taste

Tart · Hoppy · Citrus

Avant-Garde NA Sour IPA opens with bright, zesty citrus aromas layered with the unmistakable punch of hops — a one-two combo that signals this beer means business.

On the palate, the beer delivers a tart, refreshing bite balanced by hoppy bitterness, creating a sour-meets-IPA tension that keeps your taste buds guessing.

The finish is crisp and thirst-crushing, perfect for warm days when you need something with edge. A summer crusher in superhero disguise.

Story & Design

Pop-Art · Touraine · France

Avant-Garde Soda Pop is the alcohol-free offshoot of Art is an Ale Brewing, a Franco-American craft brewery based in Amboise — steps from Château d'Amboise and Leonardo da Vinci's last home.

The brewery blends American craft attitude with French terroir, producing bold ales and this comic-book-inspired NA line that refuses to play it safe.

The can design is pure pop-art punch — bold yellow, red, and blue graphics that look like they leapt off a comic book page. POW. BANG. BOOM. The beer drinks exactly like it looks.

Ingredients & Value

Sour · 0.5%

This Sour IPA uses a clean five-ingredient formula — water, barley, wheat, hops, and yeast — keeping it simple while delivering complex sour-hop character.

At €2.91 per can, you're getting French craft quality from a brewery that knows both American hop-forward styles and the art of restraint. Bold flavor, fair price, zero compromise.

Verdict & Opinion

Hero

POW. BANG. BOOM. You hear this beer before you taste it.

Sour IPAs are a highwire act — too tart and you lose the hop heads, too hoppy and the sour lovers walk. Avant-Garde sticks the landing. The tartness hits first, bright and attention-grabbing, then the hops swoop in with citrus backup. It's a team-up that works.

The Loire Valley isn't known for craft beer. It's château country, wine territory, Leonardo da Vinci's final resting place. And yet here's Art is an Ale Brewing, making Franco-American ales in the shadow of Renaissance history. This NA Sour IPA is their superhero origin story — bold, unexpected, impossible to ignore.

When the days get warmer, this is the beer you reach for. Tart enough to cut through heat, hoppy enough to feel like a proper drink, refreshing enough to crush several without regret. At €2.91 per can, it's summer in a comic book panel.

Hero status confirmed. Thirst defeated.
